The Arts in Barre

 

Barre is home to what is often referred to as the largest granite find in North America, Rock of Ages, that will accommodate projects of magnitutde with its extensive granite housed deep underground.

The quarry has inspired the art of three dimensional design and sculpture, and attracted many visitors to the area.

Stone sculptures are strewn about Barre City and Hope Cemetary on Maple Ave.

If you're interested in learning to scuplt, the Vermont Granite Museum and Kurjanowicz Sculpture Studio, LLC each have a sculpture learning facility and program, in addition to works that are available for sale.

Award winning local sculpture artist Jerry Williams continues to create in granite and bronze for municipalities, memorials, and individuals at Barre Sulpture Studio located near the downtown area.

Not all is made of stone in Barre. For music nad theater enthusiasts the Barre Opera House will surely satisfy. "This 1899 theater is a cultural cornerstone of Barre, Vermont." and hosts theater performances, dance, and music from celebrated artists.
