While the pandemic has led to many temporary closings, AR Market is the town's latest addition.  Newly opened, AR Market is a local grocery market with an Italian flair.

Delicate Decadence bravely opened in May, 2020, during the midst of the horrific rise of the pandemic. Barre, Vermont's downtown bakery and cafe, the shop also presents plenty of seating, gourmet coffee and confections.


Local shops  catering to economical shoppers include the ReSOURCE Center, Women and Children First , and Bene-Fit Shop, that make available used furniture, household items and clothes at low cost. Donations at both locations are readily accepted.


Exile on Main Street and the Vermont Bicycle Shop are two local favorites that attract the young and old.


Pool World  makes available a unique combination of both pool tables and hot tubs, swimming pool accessories.


Tourists and locals enjoy perusing  the hand crafted flannel clothing manufactured by The Vermont Flannel Company at their retail outlet in East Barre.  Their flannel clothing may also be found at retail stores throughout Vermont and New England.

The town is, perhaps, one of the most complete center for home decorating and design with shops stocking fabric, paint and paper to accompany virtually any decor.


Joann's Fabrics and Crafts, Vermont Country Bobbin Store and the Sewing Basket can assist the home decorator with color and pattern combinations, in addition to their retail stock of fabrics.  Barre Paint and Paper, a local downtown mainstay,  carries quality wallpaper including paint and supplies.

Thygesen Sports caters to youth and adult organized sports, including soccer, baseball, hockey, football and basketball.
